Both practical courses combine for a 3-hour delivery time. Renewal occurs every 3 years.

Asthma and Anaphylaxis Training Delivery
All students completing this course must have moderate English. Further information is provided in the Student Handbook.
Online Pre-Theory –
Theory must be completed at least 24hrs prior to attending your class. Failure to complete theory will result in your booking being cancelled and all monies forfeited. Trainers are provided the class list detailing theory completion results the day prior to class.
Learners will gain immediate access to the theory portal upon completion of their booking and payment, refer to your confirmation email for the link (please check junk mail folders or contact us if not received).
Practical Assessment –
Skills must be demonstrated working individually in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, industry validated scenarios and simulations to assess candidates’ skills and knowledge.
Please let us know if you have any medical conditions or special needs that may prevent you from getting on the floor. It is a requirement that CPR be performed for at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
Simulated assessment environments must simulate the real-life working environment where these skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment.
Assessment Resources must include –
- Adult and infant resuscitation manikins in line with ARC Guidelines for the purpose of assessment of CPR procedures.
- AED training device
- Workplace injury, trauma and/or illness record, or other appropriate workplace incident report form.

Do I Need to Take 22578VIC and 22702VIC?

How Often Do I Need to Renew 22578VIC and 22702VIC?
The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends renewing both the 22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis and 22702 Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies every 3 years.
What Are the Differences Between 22578VIC, 22702VIC, and HLTAID011?
As the name suggests, 22578VIC focuses on handling anaphylaxis. Students learn how to identify, manage, and prevent any allergic reactions from happening. This includes the administration of auto-injectors like EpiPens.
The 22702VIC course on the other hand focuses on handling asthma. Much like the previous course, students learn about asthma triggers, signs and symptoms, and the correct procedures to follow such as the 4x4x4 Asthma First Aid Protocol.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is more of a general course that covers a wide variety of topics. This course is meant to build a first aid foundation for those without any experience. Part of the topics covered in this course include CPR, AED usage, and the management of many illnesses and emergencies that also include asthma and anaphylaxis. While HLTAID011 shares subject matter with 22578VIC and 22702VIC, the two latter courses cover their content in a deeper and more comprehensive way.
